On Friday, July 29th a long queue formed outside the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey in London. The statues of the Modern Martyrs looked down upon the assembled people as rain started to fall. The Martinus Cantorij from Zwaag in the Netherlands were about to sing Evensong at this most historic and sacred place. Ditte and I were in the queue as it shuffled slowly forward. After being horrified by the picture of three-year-old refugee Aylan Kurdi’s tiny corpse on the Turkish beach Katrina Kieffer-Wells decided to get into action to support refugees. She started together with another Essex mum SidebySide for refugees and goes a few times each month to the jungle in Calais with Aid, a big smile and practical help. Vandaag (5 december) gingen we naar de Emirates Stadium om de wedstrijd Arsenal-Sunderland te zien. Het was een goede wedstrijd met vier doelpunten, waaronder één een “own-goal”, dus allemaal door Arsenal spelers gescoord!
