This week we opened our doors for the first time in over six months and invited guests back into the Dutch Centre, now transformed into a Covid Secure Venue. It was the first time in all these months that the Dutch Centre team met in real life, so a very exciting afternoon all together!
We came together to celebrate the English Book Launch of My name is Selma. On the panel we had no other than Selma van de Perre, resistance fighter, Ravensbrück survivor and author, accompanied by her two co-translators of the original Mijn naam is Selma and moderator Amanda Hopkinson.
The new Dutch ambassador for the UK, Karel van Oosterom joined the event and gave his first public speech in his new role. A great honour indeed!
If you weren’t able to attend the event, please do join us and our friends at New Dutch Writing for the online screening this afternoon at 6pm. You are in for a treat, it’s Selma at her best!
Despite the COVID-19 measures, like wearing a face mask, hand sanitising and maintaining social distance, it feels like the Dutch Centre continues to be the place to meet, exhibit and inspire.
We’ll share the programming for the rest of the year very soon so watch this space!
