Earlier this month, we received the exciting news that Joe Fort had been appointed Director of Music at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge. We are, of course, absolutely thrilled that he should be taking up this prestigious appointment on Advent Sunday, but so very sad he will be leaving the Dutch Church after only three short years. Joe has made a significant contribution to music at the church, and Anne Page and I could not have wished for a more gifted and wonderful colleague.
Despite the Covid pandemic interrupting at least half of Joe’s tenure, one particular highlight must be his performance last October of Bach’s Cantata Ein Feste Burg with his choir and ensemble from King’s College London. Introduced by Judith Weir CBE, Master of the Queen’s Music, it was an occasion those present will never forget for its unmitigated joyousness at a bleak period between lockdowns.
Thank you for everything Joe, we wish you all future success and happiness.
